Mrs. Sprye, 59, Farmville Native Buried Tuesday 1981

A graveside service for Mrs. India Dunnington Sprye, 59, was held Tuesday at 11 AM at Pineview Cemetery, Rocky Mount, NC. Mrs. Sprye died of cancer Sunday, July 5, in a Rocky Mount hospital.

She was born August 9, 1921, in Farmville, a daughter of Kathryn Chamberlin Dunninton and the late James William Dunnington. After attending school in Farmvile she was graduated from St. Catherine's School in Richmond and attended Hollins College.

She and her husband, Walter C. Sprye, made their home in Farmville for a number of years following his military service in World War II. He was vice president of Dunninton Tobacco Company before becoming associated with the Norwegian tobacco firm, Overseas Commodex Corporation which has its United States headquarters in Rocky Mount, NC.

In addition to her mother and her husband, Mrs. Sprye is survived by a son, Walter C. Sprye, Jr of Rocky Mount; a daughter, Kathryn S. Goebel of Charlotte, NC; three sisters, Mrs. Kathryn D. Sydnor, Mrs. Dolly D. Orgain, and Mrs Sally Ann Whidden, all of Farmville; and two grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Stoney Creek Rescue Squad, Box 97, Rocky Mount, NC.
