1988 Spry Family Reunion

Spry Clan Holds Reunion

The annual Spry reunion was held Sunday, October 2, at the Enochville Fire Department with a picnic lunch served at 1 p.m.

Mrs. William E. Hauss, Jr., the former Dorothy spry, presided over the business and welcomed those present.

Business included reports from those in the family who were unable to attend due to illness. Jim Wilson reported on the illness of his mother, Mrs. Lois Spry Wilson of Rt. 4, Advance, who is 92.

Mrs. Hauss talked on the telephone with Walter Lee Sprye of Rocky Mount, who was unable to attend because of recent surgery. He sent his greetings, as did Mrs. Ellen Dennis Spry Farrington of Dallas, Texas, who was unable to attend.

Mrs. Ben (Beulah) Mitchell of Salisbury reported the arrival of a new grandson belonging to her son and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Don Branch, also of Salisbury.

Pictures from former reunions were shared and gospel music was enjoyed during the afternoon led by Dot and Bill Hauss, Lee Ann Hauss, Carol Hauss Griffin, Jerry E. Spry, Phyllis Spry, Kenneth Spry, Mrs. Charles (Jackie) Spry, Jim Wilson and the Rev. Robert J. (Bob) Spry. Rev. Spry also gave the invocation.

Those attending were Mr. and Mrs. Michael Williams of Troy, Ohio; Frank Cooper and grandchildren Maggie Cooper and Jerry Wayne Cooper, Al Leichliter and Mrs. James (Ruby) Spry all from Laurinburg; the Rev. Robert J. (Bob) Spry, Mrs. Doris Milewski, Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Spry, Jonathan Spry and friend Christy Beaver, Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Bethea and children Holly and Blake Edward from China Grove.

The next reunion will be held the first Sunday in October 1989 at the Enochville Fire Department.
