L. A. Bigger, 84, County Native, Buried Sunday, 3 PM

Runeral services for Lester Alfred Bigger, of Farmville, 84, were held Sunday at 3 PM at New Witt Baptist Church with interment in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Farmville. Mr. Bigger died Thursday, January 24, 1985 at his home near Farmville.

He was born in Prince Edward County October 16, 1900, a son of the late Alex Bigger and Margaret Crawley Bigger.

Following his graduation from the Trade Department of Hampton Institute, he taught one year in the Prince Edward County Public Schools. For a short period, he worked in New York and returned to this area in 1934 where he was employed by the Dunnington Family until his retirement.

He was a member of the Randolph Lodge, No. 30 of Free and Accepted Masons and of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

His wife was the late Ellen Richardson Bigger; and he is survived by two brothers, Jerry Bigger, of York, PA and Alphonzo Bigger, of Washington, DC and four sisters, Mrs. Mildred Colemen of Philadelphia, PA and Mrs. Margaret B. Bryson, Mrs. laura B. Womack, and Mrs. Annie B. Wilkins all of Washington, DC.

Funeral arraangements were made by the E. B. Allen Funeral Home of Farmville.
